We have just finished our second day here at Lunteren camp, and so far it has been great! The campsite is very pretty, with lots of trees. The boat journey was fun, I doubt many of us got much sleep but the experience made up for it!
Yesterday we put our tents, cook shelters and tables up, and had tea, meatballs, potatoes and green beans. It would have been nice but unfortunately most of it we burnt! Afterwards we played some name games to help us socialise and learn the names of the Dutch guides and leaders. A badminton and volleyball net has been set up for us and so we have played lots.
Today we had breakfast, a typical Dutch breakfast of chocolate sprinkles, chocolate spread, sugar and toast, along with the slightly more English eggy bread. We had flag break (yawn), then started on the activities. We had a kind of spy theme, so we got into groups and thought of a name and made a poster. We were The Tics, due to the much feared creatures that lots of the guides hated and were apparently everywhere on the campsite! Our poster is shown in the picture. We then competed a series of games against the other patrols, Pick-up-Sticks, Shooting, Water Games, Chop the Cake, Frisbee, Volleyball and Caber Toss. Our patrol won the challenges and so get a well-deserved shower!!!! For tea we had pigs in blankets, more potatoes, carrots and peas. Tonight is a free night so there are plenty of choices, badminton, bracelet making and much more. However we have been ordered to have an early night as tomorrow we do a ten mile hike which none of us are looking forward to! Our camp t-shirts are orange, (Dutch colour!).
